Program Notes:

Richard wrote "I felt deep emotions when I completed the 9 minute long first movement of Victor Ewald's Quintet No. 2. Amazement about the incredible ending, pride in the accomplishment, relishing the melodies and interweaving parts, just the sheer beauty that I focused on for about 15 hours! Playing Ewald has change me and I am putting a lot of this inspiration into my Symphony for Timpani, Brass and a couple other musicians, Op. 333. I decided I wanted to create a grandiose symphony in the late Romantic style, well it's my style but the form builds to a change and builds. Movement two is where the piano and orchestra bells come in; I love this change. Movement three is a reworking of a Vixen Geyser movement from a Yellowstone Suite, and movement 4 is based on the finale of Victor Ewald's Quintet No. 2"
