    This wonderful set of duets for French horn and piano features 16 pieces that can mostly be played on natural horn. This opus by Canadian American composer and French hornist was written in 2023 and is perfect for intermediate to advanced level players. These duets are sure to provide hours of enjoyment for both you and your audience.

    I didn't compose for several months in the Fall of 2022, but I had started some of these 16 pieces. I find that I really need to keep on writing a piece until it's done, so my thoughts are consistent and organized.

    No. 5 I use the harmonic row as the basis for the cord progression:Burdick's Op. 321 No. 5 chord progression

    With No. 7 (23-39) I began this work three times in different ways until I found that the relationship of the harmonic row to scale, created something I liked, Then I had the 2 minute long work done in less than two hours.

    In No. 7, I started using multiple natural horn keys, live Wagner did in his Sigfried Idyll, where the horn was played like a hand-horn, but there was no time to remove the crooks and change keys, the crook changes were done with the valves.

    Also in No. 7 I started tones that were not in the scale,but only as trills, signifying less stable tones and emphasizing my love for trills!

    After I finished NO. 7 I completed the last one in this set No. 16 (32) This is writtenfor horn, in F, G & A; it's very hard on natual horn and a good high "blow" on valve horn, and it's beautiful. Durring the recoding process on Dec. 29, 2022 I decided to make a key element fo the rest of the duet the major triads of the scale, so thi si what I am doing as I proceed

    No. 9 (25) I use the scale tone chord row form as pictured here:
    Op. 325 No. 9 chord order

    No. 10 (26) In version one of No. 26 I wrote the piano part in a regular pattern. For version 2 it was fliped around putting part one at the end plus a few other small changes.Burdick's form chart for op. 321-26
