Program Notes: |
||||
TO start this I went back to my old ways for throwing the I Ching coins to start and I threw - - + - - + without any changing lines The scale is Bb, B, C, D, F, F#, G, A. To get the American sound I wanted for this work. I needed an Eb so I applied the traditional transpositions of the scale up a fourth and a fifth. This work is in four movements: 1) From "The Eleven Major Pairs for solo piano, Op. 142c: I. C and G Major (2005) 2) From "The Eleven Major Pairs for solo piano, Op. 142c: IX. Major Pairs in C and F Major (2005) 3) Intermezzo from Huber Suite Duo for horn & 'cello (1977) 4) Written new in 2021 in I Ching Hexagram No. 24-52 "Beholding."
