These duets are part of an exploration of using the I Ching scale and harmonic signatures in an attempt to create a form like Haydn did with the symphony. In the work I wrote a 24 bar section of music and re-worked it to develope the whole work. Changing it to a slow movement, a movement in 3 and adding a motive to it in the final. The whole work is based on the one section. I think the work is very effect and is an interesting fun and quick way to compose. I used this ideal composition form as a starting point for the three horn quartets. This piece uses only I Ching scale "08-18 wrong place." A scale in G.
