The musical compositions of Richard Burdick
64 I Ching duets for two horn
These 64 duets are in the form and or style of Fantasies
January 2004 - August 2008
I consider my most successful composition to be my "Planets for solo horn, opus 19" because of this popular piece, I have written my "more than 64 solos for horn, opus 139" Following the writing of the solos, I went ahead with the 64 duets, I don't know why the opus numbers are sort of mixed up, especially when there are still two duets to finish as I write this in early August 2008. I have the whole set recorded, except # 50 & 60, and am now re-recording them in one-takes. One of my big projects for this season is recording all of my horn ensemble music, with a CD of the Best of and a audio DVD of the complete!
January 2012: I have made much progress with recording of my horn music. I have well over another CD of music recorded, with pieces being uncovered from my archives often! I have recently recorded my "Mind without Matter" a piece for seven players from 1979; I love this work and have included it in my CD release CD29 Astral Waves and Phosphor.
ALL OLD VERSIONS of these duets, such as duets 1-16 and 17-34 sets are now replaced by the complete set in one volume
You can listen to samples of many tracks here:
The recording is me (Richard Burdick) in a multi-track recording. In "one-takes" to prove that the duets can be played, sometimes only after hard work, sometime quite easily.
Volume #1 (1-34) Can be found in the Canadian Music Center Libraries.
