Opus 245
Waterton Waterfalls
for live musicians with video.
This work is for a quartet of live musicians that perform in front of a videotape (with sounds on it) in a live concert setting.
The videos were shot in Waterton National Park in B. C. Canada
Written as a similar piece to Ravel's Introduction and Allegro I wrote this for English horn, horn, harp & 'cello with videotape
I am writing three versions (all to go along with the videotape (with sound):
Opus 245a) English horn, horn, harp and 'cello with videotape
Opus 245b) chamber orchestra: 1111 1100 & strings with videotape
Opus 245c) horn and piano ( 2 players) with videotape
The 2018-19 Regina Symphony Season is my 16th season as principle horn. Each year in November and December the members of the Regina Symphony Orchestra Core meet to decide the programming for the government house chamber series for the following season. In 2018, I started my list of proposals and ended up proposing a number of full programs (see my proposal at the bottom of this page). In my research, I was reminded how much I like Ravel's Introduction and Allegro for Harp, Flute, Clarinet and String Quartet (11 min). The main version of this opus is written as a companion piece to the Ravel. A secondary version is for a tour I plan to do with horn and piano, and a third for the RSO core orchestra.
