Mind without Mater
for 7 instruments
       flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon,
              violin, viola, & 'cello
                                                                                  1979

This was written when Richard was a student at California State University @ Hayward

He wrote quite a few works in this graphic notation style and with pictures that scroll along with the music. In 2023 he has written a grant request that he needs to free up his time to complete a couple of these early works, and write a new one.

This is page one of the string quartet movement from Mr. Burdick's Opera "The Babble of Omar"

December 2011, I have unburied this work from my pieces. All that I remember of this work from when I wrote it is, that it has never been performed, and the title is really arbitrary.

I have started a test recording of this work and so far am just loving it!
