Quasi Qualcosa
(almost something)
for waterphone & trio (c. 5 minutes)

This was premiered by the
Electrum Brass Trio
Concert St, Luke's Anglican Church, November 20, 2011

This is written for Horn, trombone and Tuba specifically, not like the free trios that are written for any instruments.

In our performance this work was the center of the concert and done not as pleasant entertainment, but more as "the sermon". The homemade waterphone instrument we used did not have the resonance that a real true Waterphone.

Now in 2024 (March 22) I recorded this work. The concert premiere was bad, and now after adding a sustained waterphone sound throughout the work, it unifies it a little bit. I don't love this piece, but I think it says something, and the ending at least comes to a slight conclusion and I am only thinking "thank god that's over" a little bit.
